Course Description:

Goal: To raise awareness among public health professionals about diverse communities in Utah and factors that contributes to their health.

Course Objectives

Objective 1:  Understand Utah’s diverse history and future demographics trends

Objective 2: Define determinants of health

Objective 3: Define health disparities and recognize that some Utahns may face obstacles to healthy living.

Objective 4:  Recognize the value of understanding diversity, determinants of health and health disparities as an important part of being a public health employee.

This course is provided by the Utah Department of Health, Office of Health Disparities (OHD).  The mission of OHD is to
 reduce health disparities in Utah and to improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations as defined by socioeconomic status, race/ethnicity, geography, and among other populations identified to be at-risk for health disparities. See
